Exit Interview

 1. Comment about your work ethic in this course.
Throughout the whole course I always did work during all classes and handed in everything I could by the time it was supposed to be handed in. There were a few extra things I could have added to some assignments but for the most part I did pretty good with extra details.

 2. Which assignments did you enjoy and why?
The assignments I enjoyed most were the ones from Premiere Pro and Photoshop. The Photoshop effects were a bit frustrating at first, but once I got the hang of it it was fun to learn them and useful to be more familiar with the application if I need to use it later. Although the Premiere Pro assignments could be a bit tedious, there was a lot you could do with them. The cut to the beat assignment specifically was the most enjoyable for me since I have the musical knowledge to do it and the freedom to fit the video to the music.

 3. Which assignments did you struggle with and why?
The Thunkable unit, though not technically difficult, was the most infuriating unit of the year. My skills and interests lie in the field of coding so realistically it should have been easy. But, there were so many technical issues. The UI would glitch out and duplicate elements infinitely making it impossible to do work until refreshing the website. Blocks would visually collect but wouldn't register internally. Applications would run differently multiple times in a row without changing anything. This made it nearly impossible to troubleshoot any issues. This was also the only unit where I had to give up on some assignments because they were impossible to do, even though the creators said they weren't.

The assignments that were actually hard for me were the later Game Journalism ones. I am really bad at video games and was never at the point in the game that I needed screenshots of. Add that to the photo and video editing and it felt like a huge time crunch.

Game Journalism Day 4

Upgrades

*UPDATED JAN 21*

1. Smelter

Smelts metal. Necessary for literally every later game tool/item. It is absolutely worth making it

2. Medium Crop Pot

Grows more crops than a small one or a shoe. This is worth it as you can water both plants in one go.

3. Metal Axe

Chops trees faster. Not worth making until you have a surplus of metal.

4. Hook

Collects resources faster and lasts longer. As the hook is one of the most frequent tools you will use, it is absolutely worth upgrading.

 5. Large Crop Pot

Allows you to plant trees. Seeds obtained on islands are useless without it. It is worth upgrading as it gives you access to resources from islands without having to always go to one.

9. Make a research table
10. Research as much as possible

2. Best tool for survival

Water purifiers are necessary for thirst and planting crops.

3. My Raft

Best feature: Stairs to get to islands. They have good stuff.

Game Journalism Play 3

1. Things I built

Second level to raft:

Bed:

2. How will they help (tips and tricks)

Building a second level to your raft allows you to access islands that are high up. It also allows more space for things.

A bed allows you to sleep through the night which makes it easier to see what your doing all the time instead of half of the time.

Tips:

  • Do not leave your raft without dropping and anchor. That is bad.
  • Store all of your things before foraging underwater. You could very likely lose it all.

3. Strategies for tomorrow

Work towards smeltery to make better things. Make more storage to store stuff while at an island. Get sand and clay to research a smeltery.
